Hyundai India is a fully owned subsidiary of South Korean automobile manufacturer, Hyundai. The Indian arm of the brand was founded in 1996 and has its headquarters located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The company launched its first model in the country, the Santro, in 1998.

Hyundai India has two production facilities located in Irangattukotai and Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu. Both the aforementioned plants have a combined production capacity of 7 lakh units per year. The company also uses these plants to exports models across the world.
