Jaguar E-Pace Summary

Jaguar, known for its sporty coupes and sedans, had ventured into SUV territory last year with the launch of their first ever SUV, the F-Pace. The British car maker has now expanded its SUV portfolio with the introduction of the E-Pace, a compact luxury SUV, positioned below the F-Pace.

The E-Pace is based on the Land Rover Discovery Sport/ Evoque platform which has been developed using the lightweight aluminium infused architecture. The design has been inspired by the F-type and like the F-Pace, it gets the typical large oval mesh grille with the cat-eyed headlamps flanking it. The high bonnet, flared wheel arches and a tall stance give it the muscle while staying true to its sporty Jaguar heritage.

On the inside, the Jaguar E-Pace comes with all the bells and whistles associated with luxury cars. Along with the touchscreen infotainment system, the E-Pace also gets an all-new heads-up display that beams more information to the driver than ever before. Of course, the leather upholstery, separate-zone climate control, sunroof and electrically adjustable seats are all offered on the E-Pace. In terms of safety, there is a cocoon of frontal, side and curtain airbags along with a comprehensive electronic stability program.

Under the hood of the E-Pace, Jaguar will offer both the 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines in varied states of tune. The petrol will be offered in the 237bhp and 296bhp versions while the diesel will be offered in the 148bhp, the 177bhp and the 237bhp states of tune. An all-wheel drive will be offered on the more powerful versions while the entry-level trims might be offered with rear-wheel drive only.
The Jaguar E-Pace will compete against likes of the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and the Mercedes-Benz GLC along with the Volvo XC60 and the Land Rovers. We expect the Jaguar E-Pace to reach India in 2018 if not earlier with a chance of it being showcased at the Auto Expo 2018 in Delhi.
