Nissan is entering the B-segment of the Indian car market with the production spec version of the car you see in the pictures- the Magnite. It’s Nissan answer to the likes of the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Honda WR-V, Hyundai Venue and the upcoming Kia Sonet.
On the outside, the Magnite concept gets a large grille with a chrome surround and red highlight, LED headlamps and L-shaped LED DRLs, faux skid plates with silver inserts and chunky wheel arches. The alloy wheels are dual-tone while the tail lamps are full LED units. We expect much of this larger than life design to be carried over to the production model with biggest change expected to be smaller wheels and projector headlamps (on specific variants) in place of the LED units.
Not much is known about the cabin but Nissan has revealed that it will get cruise control a touchscreen infotainment system with an 8.0-inch display. We also expect segment standard features like climate control, rear AC vents, driver’s seat height adjustment and a rear arm rest.
The Renault/Nissan alliance had showcased a 1.0-litre GDi turbo petrol engine at the 2020 Auto Expo and this is expected to be on offer for the Magnite. It produces 100bhp/140N. Nissan is also expected to offer the 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol unit found in the Renault Triber for the lower spec models.
